Case Study: Josephine’s Place

Case Study: Josephine's PlaceAt AM, we believe volunteering isn’t just good for the community—it’s a smart move for professionals and businesses alike. It strengthens your company’s presence, builds trust, and expands your network. Just as important, it sharpens your skills in ways traditional business settings can’t. I’ve written two articles on strategic volunteering, which you’ll find on the AM website.

For this edition of Magnetic Marketing Tips, I want to highlight an organization close to my heart: Josephine’s Place in Elizabeth, NJ. I’ve been a volunteer there since 2016, drawn to its mission from the moment I learned about it. As the daughter of a first-generation Italian American, I knew how life-changing language skills can be. My mom learned English in kindergarten, then taught her own parents. Josephine’s Place empowers women just like her—giving them the language tools and life skills to advocate for themselves and their families, find jobs, and build careers.

A sponsored mission of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, Josephine’s Place helps women take control of their future and their families’ well-being. I’m grateful to Sheila Casey, Executive Director, and Sister Judy Mertz, Development Coordinator (and Josephine’s Place founder) for participating in this case study. They had some kind words to share about me—though let’s be honest, with leaders like them, the real credit goes to Josephine’s Place and the impact it’s made since 2003.
